The main aim of Bodegas y Viñedos Montecastro, S.A. is to envelope a medium size winery, between 250.000 and 300.000 bottles maximum, that manufactures a high quality wine, a wine placed as one of the fifteen best wines of Ribera del Duero. To achieve that aim the company will use the necessary resources at the human point of view - Technical Manager, Commercial Manager, and the staff in the winery and vineyards- and in the material point of view–facilities, barrels and work processes-with a high quality and demanding. Trying to make the wines as a synthesis of the flavors and tastes in the Ribera del Duero, using grapes from Montecastro’s own vineyards and settling purchasing agreements with vine growers, that apply the same criterion and quality controls as their winery. The manufacturing process of Montecastro’s wine requires aging the wine in barrels for a long time that varies between 16 and 18 months depending on the vintage characteristics, and at least 6 months bottled. In Spanish terms this wine will be the equivalent as a “Reserva” more than a “Crianza”. The barrels used for the aging of Montecastro come from first quality French Oak in a 70%, American Oak in 25% and 5% of Eastern Countries of Europe.
