Vermouth has a rich history and lore closely tied to folk medicine. Starting as early as 1000 B.C. in China, people were steeping botanicals (roots, barks, flowers, herbs and spices) in wine and sipping the mixture as a medicinal tipple. It wasn’t until the mid-17th century, though, that these infusions were referred to as vermouth.
Vermouth is a fortified wine, part of the “aromatized” wine family, flavored with aromatic herbs and spices. In recent times, the vermouth has become a tradition for aperitif in western countries, even calling that moment “vermouth time”. There is various types of Vermouth but what is definitely important is the quality of the wine used to elaborate the spirit.
As ambassador of Spanish Gastronomy and Culture, Juerui Industry has brought to Shanghai the Vermouth from the winery Castell del Remei, a master in red wines and tradition.
