Gramona 100 years celebration in Palau de la Musica

If there is a round anniversary to celebrate in style, that is the centenary! On February 27th, Gramona celebrated in the Palau de la Musica, one of the modernist spots more emblematic worldwide, a unique party to celebrate their special achievement.

Gramona family was accompanied by the most relevant people in Catalan society, politicians, master of wines, journalist and of course key players in the gastronomic society worldwide. Among them, Jordi Roca, sommelier from the restaurant El Celler de Can Roca and Ferran Centelles, beverage director of Bullipedia from El Bulli Foundation.

The celebration was sober but full of emotion, Jaume and Xavier Gramona accompanied by Leo and Roc (5th and 6th generation) went through the key moments on the winery´s history. Their birth 140 years ago, the marriage between the two families Gramona and Battle in 1921 and the struggle of the sales during the Spanish national war in 1936 that turned out to be a key moment in the evolution of Gramona Sparkling wines. Due to the lack of sales during the war, Gramona had to keep their sparkling wines stored longer than planned resulting in an improvement of the product and the birth of the idea of making aged sparkling wines.

The protagonists of the event were, without a doubt, Celler Battle and III Lustros, the most emblematic products from Gramona aged more than a 100 months and 70 months in barrel but the spectacular catering prepared by Nandu Jubany, the catalan Michelin Star Chef, cannot be left aside.

Nandu Jubany got his first Michelin star in 1998 for this restaurant Can Jubany and is an unconditional lover of cuisine and a point of reference for high-end Catalan gastronomy. Nandu Jubany and his wife Anna, now own 12 properties devotes to gastronomy and high end events.

As promised, the celebration that had to take place in 2021, when the real anniversary was, but that had to be postponed due to the Covid 19 pandemic, was a celebration of life and cheer to bubble and gastronomy.

Congratulation Gramona for this 100 years of history and great improvements in the biodynamic sparkling wine evolution!
